Luis Buñuel's An Andalusian Dog, The Golden Age & Simon of the Desert

Un chien andalou (An Andalusian Dog) (1929)
Being late by heavy traffic, i missed the first ten mintues' screening of "An Andalusian Dog". It seems there is not exact story behind, only fragments of clips brings together. And those visual effects influence some movie makers later. Interestingly, in Wikipedia's entry, the moth appeared in the final scene is similar as that in the Silence of the Lambs
The screening continued with the Golden Age. The short film seems about two lovers being separated by others. Finally they can re-united ... but ends with some unexpected ending. Audience are getting impatient as there are so much unrelated side-tracks in the film.
The last film Simon of the Desert finally got complete storyline. The film adapted the story of Symeon the Stylite. The film leads audience question on religion. For example, a man asked Simon give him hands as his hands were cut off. After Simon prayed for God and fulfilled that man's wish, the man seemed not show gratitude towards god's gift. Then his loyalty was questioned by his followers. He was isolated and no one understood him, only the devil. Finally the devil took him to New York and experienced a new life.
Simon: What's this dance called?
The Devil: "Radioactive Flesh." It's the latest - and the last!
The audience are shocked by the ending. But i think it is good.
